History of Ooty Lake:
It was in the
year 1824 that the Ooty Lake became a reality because of John Sullivan. The
water in the Ooty Lake is actually the collection of the water flowing down the
streams in the Ooty Valley. The actual reason for the construction of the Ooty
Lake was to do fishing with ferries that is by traveling across the lake.
However, it is this very lake which has expanded its boundaries and today has a beautiful garden as well as an extravagant race course of Horses. It was in the year 1973 that the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation took over the possession of the lake and made it a place famous for mainly boating.

The Eucalyptus
trees are surrounded by the sides of the beautiful lake. There is also a
railway line which is present on one side along the shore. You should not miss
out the two-day boat race in the Ooty Lake which is held in the month of May.

Ooty has a favorable
climate all through the year as in the Summers it is very pleasant, in the
Winters it is cool and in the Monsoons it happens to appear even more beautiful.
And it is this very reason that it can be visited any time during the year.
However, you can make the most of Ooty in the months of October to June.
