The Alluring Waterfalls in Kerala

The dense forests of Kerala is situated along the Western Ghats
and are dotted with plenty large and small waterfalls that flow down the mountain. Kerala is surely a paradise for the nature lovers.
Copious greenery of the entire region of Kerala ensures the continuity of these waterfalls. Waterfalls generally have a different aura of beauty surrounding it.

 Poets, painters and writers crave to visit a beautiful waterfall as it instigates an inspiration to do something creative in their respective genre. It is also a favoured location by the ones who are looking to spend some time amid the tranquillity and splendour of nature. Not only this, adventure enthusiasts are also attracted to waterfalls as they provide various adventurous activities such as trekking and rock climbing etc. A brief list of some of the captivating waterfalls in Kerala is given below.

Athirapally Waterfalls
Athirapally Waterfalls is one of the most popular waterfalls in Kerala. The fall is 800 foot high, situated at the entrance of the Sholayar ranges and is also a famed picnic spot. This scenic waterfall is located at a distance of 78 km from Kochi. It is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Kerala and a must visit place for the nature lovers.

Mulamkuzhi Waterfalls
Mulamkuzhi is a small village in Ernakulam district, which is located at a distance of Malayattur. The cryastal clear water of the Mulamkuzhi River and the waterfalls of Venanbravady near Malayattur is surely an inspirational as well as captivating sight. The place is also a meeting point of two rivers, namely Periyar and Perumthode. Mulamkuzhi River flows through the nearby mountain ranges and cascades into a huge waterfall. The waterfall is renowned among the tourists and also is a scenic location.

Thomankuttu Waterfalls
Thomankuttu and Rainbow Waterfalls are located at a distance of 20 and 25 km from Thodupuzha, which is one of the chief towns in Idduki district of Kerala and is 74 km from Cochin. As to its beautiful surroundings, these waterfalls are also a popular picnic spot.

Cheeyappara Waterfalls
The Cheeyappara Waterfalls is one of the most scenic waterfalls in Kerala and is also one of the chief excursion points in the region of Cochin. The water comes cascading down over seven steps at this fall, which offers one of the picturesque views in the world.

Nyayamakad Waterfalls
Nyayamakad Waterfalls is located at the distance of 10 km from Munnar, and it lies between Munnar and Rajamala Nyamkad. It is one of the most captivating waterfalls in the region of Kerala and it beautifully cascades down a hill from a height of around 1,600 meters. The waterfall seems even more striking due to its scenic surroundings, making it a perfect place for picnic and trekking.

Thusharagiri Waterfalls
Thusharagiri Waterfalls is located at a distance of around 50 km east of Kozhikode. Two streams that commences from the Western Ghats meet to form Challipuzha River, which eventually diverges into three waterfalls, forming a snowy spray. 

Hence, the name ‘Thusharagiri’ was given to these waterfalls, which means ‘snowy peak’. If you trek upstream for around 5 km, you will reach the origination point of this stream. The highest waterfall among the three waterfalls is the Thenpara fall that falls from a height of around 75 meters.
